Officially Done!!

Many of you did not know this, but I have been working on my master's degree and as of today, I am officially done. I have my masters in education!! (well, I don't have the diploma yet, but everything is turned in!!) I started 6 years ago (gasp) at Wright State University in Dayton. I took a quarter off due to melanoma and then we ended up relocating. So 6 years and 3 states later I'm done! A few years ago I figured out I only had 5 classes left to do so I looked into transferring the credits to a school down here. Well, I practically would have had to start over so I wasn't doing that. I am still friends with one of the girls from my cohort and she told me about another person that finished online. I contacted my adviser and got permission to finish my last 5 classes online. The final class was this fall and now everything is done!! The portfolio pictured above is a culmination of my work over the last 6 years and it took $15.00 to ship the darn thing. Anyways, what a huge weight lifted off of my chest before the baby comes! Yeah for me!!

Welcome baby Rachel!

So on Tuesday my best friend Mindy gave birth to her 2nd baby, Rachel Lynn. She was 9 pounds even and born with a full head of hair. Go Mindy! The picture above is even in the outfit that 'Aunt' Cassie got her!! (I'm so proud!) Here are a few pics of the new little one and one with big brother Nathan.

Also, here is the baby blanket that I knitted Rachel to match her bedding! It ended up really long and skinny, but hey, I guess not too bad for my first (and probably last attempt) at a baby blanket!

Stripes are done

Well, it took me all day on Tuesday to paint these darn stripes! We didn't have school because of the election so I thought I would get up and knock them out. I started around 9 and honestly beleived I would be done by 2 or so. Then I realized that the red was not going to cover in 2 coats, or 3 or 4. Yes, it took 5 coats of red to completely cover. The navy took 3 coats. . . I was finally done at 5. Once the tape came off I realized that with 5 coats of red there was a lot of bleeding (no pun intended) with the paint. I was literally in tears on Tuesday night when I realized how much touching up would need to be done. I decided to do a wall at a time and finally finished things up yesterday morning. So. . . .here is a sneak peak of the nursery with the bedding finally on the crib. (once the stripes were done I was so excited to see what it all looked like together, so I just had to put it on)

As you can see, it's really coming together! 15 weeks to go!

Welcome November!

Finally, November is here! I never thought October was going to end! On Friday night it was Adam's job to begin painting the nursery and I was going to deal with the trick-or-treaters. Boo, we didn't have 1 kid come to the door! It was so depressing. I must admit, I do miss how Ohio does trick-or-treat, you know how they set a time, like everyone goes out on Thursday from 6-8. Down here it's on Halloween and kids go out around the time it gets dark and then stops whenever. To me it is just so unorganized. I guess the best part is I get all the leftover candy! (one of the pros of being pregnant at Halloween.) So Adam got the nursery painted and now it's my turn to put my touch on it tomorrow. I will be painting stripes around the top of the room. Pictures to come of the stripes (cross your fingers that it works). . . .

Then, on Saturday night our good friends Melissa and Lawrence had a birthday party/Halloween party for Lawrence. It was a great time! Now this was the part I didn't like about being pregnant at Halloween, coming up with a costume, because of course everyone wears costumes to their Halloween party. Well, my husband wins the 'super husband' award because he came up with the most awesome idea for me: A Magic 8 ball! We had to modify his idea a tad, because he really wanted to paint my belly, but we compromised and I painted a shirt.

Here are pictures of the party. Adam went as a SEC punching bag, and for those non-college football fans aka an Ohio State Superfan that got beat up in the south!

Also, here are more pictures from the baby shower cubed from another friend.
