Family pictures by Sprout Photography

I am in love with these pictures that Amanda of Sprout Photography took of us on vacation. What a great photographer and an even better friend!

When it rains, it pours

When it's time to buy another house I'm going to seriously consider a town house where you are not responsible for all the maintenance. We have had so much stuff go wrong lately and it just SUCKS! We had to have a door fixed that wouldn't shut that Adam just couldn't fix, a leaky bathtub, a hole in the roof of the shed (we came home from vacation and found this), and last but not least, the city posted a notice on our front door this week that said we have a water leak and that we had 10 days to fix it or they were going to shut our water off! No knock on the door when it was obvious that I was home, just a little sticky checklist on the door. So after going round and round with the water department and a few quotes from plumbers, we ended up with a whole new water line. While the plumbers were digging they figured out the city also had a leak on our property so while the plumbers only dug up part of the yard, they city took care of the other part. Now, we still have some grass, just a big trench running through the yard right now. We are very lucky that the leak that the city had was not on our side of the meter because once they dug and found the leak we had water shooting about 5 feet into the air until they shut the water off to the entire street (sorry, neighbors). You could also tell that it was a very slow day for the city employees because at one point in time we had 8 city trucks and a backhoe here. I wanted to know how many men it took to stare at water filling a hole, but apparently it takes about 10 of them. Enjoy the pictures--Jake did a very good job of inspecting the work!

Readjusting to life

We are so lucky to have such great friends! We were invited on a beach vacation with 3 other couples and kids--and it was a blast. Chaotic, but a blast! With 8 adults and 5 kids it was bound to be an adventure filled vacation! Josh and Amanda were awesome hosts at their parents beach house. Jake HATED his first trip to the beach (and his second trip. . . ). He didn't like the sand, the water, the sea shells. He and I pretty much sat on a blanket the entire time and had snacks. (pictured below)
Thank goodness the house had a pool and that's where we spent most of our time. We've been home for just about 2 weeks now and I still feel like we are settling back in--the days seem kinda lonely now that my friends aren't around all day long to talk with. Lots of pictures here from the trip.
